Am I suitable for dental implants?

Most adults with good general and oral health can be considered for dental implants. Your suitability will be assessed during a consultation, including the health of your gums, remaining teeth and jawbone.

How much do implants cost in Carmarthen?

We offer a free initial consultation, and our Implant Assessment costs £350 including CBCT Scan where appropriate. A single dental implant costs from £3300. Implant-retained dentures cost from £5150. Your treatment plan will be specific to you, and the cost break down will be explained in your implant assessment, and in writing in your implant letter following this appointment.

Can I have dental implants if I have bone loss?

Bone loss doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have implants. In some cases, bone grafting or a sinus lift can help create the foundations needed for successful implant placement. James Hayden has extensive experience of these procedures, so this is something we can do in-house at Hayden Dental.

Are dental implants painful?

Implant treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. Some tenderness and swelling can be expected afterwards, but this is usually temporary. Are implants suitable if I have gum disease?

Active gum disease needs to be treated before implant treatment can begin. Once your gums are healthy and stable, we can assess whether implants are a suitable option. We can help with this with the support of our excellent Hygiene Therapy team.

How long does treatment take?

Treatment times vary depending on your individual circumstances and whether additional procedures are required. Your treatment plan will outline each stage and give you a clearer idea of the expected timescale and precise costs. The healing phase after implant surgery is often 3-6 months, but in certain cases, immediate-loading implants can be placed meaning the crown is fitted immediately after the implant placement.

Will I be left with a gap for days/weeks/months whilst the implant heals?

No. Your dentist will create you a natural-looking temporary crown of bridge to safely cover the gap whilst your implant site heals.

Do you accept dental implant referrals from other dentists?

Yes. We are an established referral practice for general dentists from across Wales. We take referrals for all cases, from single tooth implants, to referrals for complex and advanced care including bone grafting, soft- and hard-tissue grafting, sinus lifts, and full-arch cases.

Are dental implants worth it?

For many patients, implants offer a secure, natural-looking and long-term way to replace missing teeth. We’ll explain the benefits, limitations and alternatives so you can make an informed decision about your treatment. An implant assessment will not always indicate implant treatment - your dentist will advise you of the best treatment for you, considering all possible options.
